I read a great autobiography on the life of Sadaharu Oh the Japanese baseball star. He is arguably the greatest home run hitter of all time. Hitting more liftime home runs than any other player in baseball history.
Anyway, he relates his story of how he became a master of the swing. Learning and using the philosophy and techniques of swordsmanship, aikido and zen he spent thousands of hours of practice swinging a bat in front of a mirror under the critical eye of his mentor.
Together they dissected the swing and space that exists between opponents the same way that Brian breaks down shooting into its fundamental elements.
It's a very good read with applications to our sport. It's out of print but available from either Barnes and Noble or Amazon. Check out both sources. One was considerably cheaper than the other but I forget which one was which!
