Got a Benelli M1S90 with a surefire responder (tactical light)  on the forearm.  I'm considering puting an on board ammo holder, as sugguested to me from a police friend, will a side saddle loaded with slugs affect the operation with my current setup.  Does anyone out there have this set up, and how does it work.  Also what is the lightest load you can use on it with this set up?  I just came back from an over 100 00Buck and slug weekend and I'm sore and less rich. (Needed to break in the new baby.) I don't want another such weekend, I'd rather spend less and save my shoulder with lighter loads. I'll save the big rounds for home defense.  Any sugguestions? thanks guys

I was just getting ready to order the side saddle from 3gungear.com when I saw page 14 of the current issue of Front Sight. How does Mr. Cooley get 12 rounds on the gun ? I was also curious why the Kelly reload method wasn't mentioned *grin*.

Talon, I'm in the same boat. I've been trying to load with a Choate belt carrier, holding the magazine blind and now see that most folks hold it where you can see to load the shells. I was just getting ready to order the 8 round side saddle from 3gungear.com also. Sure would like to know where to get the 12 round sidesaddle.

Got a 3 Gun match at Flatwoods in Hubert NC the end of the month. Hotdiggitydamn!
Bob.

They did mention the Kelly reload except it was Kelly Beale!  My loading technique is similar except I hold my weak hand further up the foreend.  If I'm not mistaken (and I could be), Cooley does use 3gungear shell holders.  He does not have a 12 round sidesaddle instead he uses 2 6 rounders: one placed on the right side foward of the ejection port and one on the left side of the receiver.

A friend of mine is having a Browning Gold that he won turned into a near identical copy of Cooley's shotgun by Briley.   He was told that Cooley does indeed use 3gungear shell holders.

One thing to remember when loading anything onto a Benelli is that it is a recoil operated shotgun. I know people that use side saddles with no problems and know others that can't make them work. The reason is that the gun is " sprung" ( I know it's not  correct) to operate off  inertia ,and depending on how finicky the gun is it may or may not work.

If you add enough weight to a Benelli it won't run with lighter loads but it takes quite a bit. What usually happens with a sidesaddle is that  it is overtightened which squeezes the receiver a little and binds the bolt. Just be careful and don't tighten the bolt too much and it'll work fine.

That  was my thought also which is why I decided on the "stick on" one from 3gunear.
