Some times crappy things happen that test us. over the past year I have given up placing higher in events to 'build' on my skills. I trained hard and smart to be ready for the Rocky Mountain 3 gun event.
Well that changed last week my wife made a bad step off a much higher than she thought blind curb and broke both her ankles. one very bad that had to have over two hours of surgery to tie the bones back in place. now she is learning to move on the one not so bad broken ankle with a walker while she holds the bad one off the floor.

As she was getting the hang of using the walker she managed to catch a walker leg and started to spill. I was two steps away and her move was a surprise. But I moved my fastest ever and was in place to catch her before she injured her ankles worst.
I know that she was more surprised than me when she ended up in my arms holding her. She looked at me like I was Superman.

It would not matter to me If I missed all the events for the next 12 months.
I know what it feels like to win the Gold.

I've had conversations go about like this numerous times about 'hobbies' that I have.

"What are you training so hard for?"
"Life."

People just don't understand skills and abilities that are built can be used all over the place... Cheers to those of us who train

I sincerely hope that your luck changes for the better and your wife's recovery goes well. After having broken my ankle in January of this year and spending 8 weeks on crutches I can somewhat relate. The two of you take care :)

Jamie, I think that you and your wife are both extremely lucky, to have each other. Good reflexes to save your wife from the fall. I've seen you shoot, I'm not surprised at it.

Good catch.

You certainly did better than me. About 15 years ago shortly after getting married, my wife and I were fishing, she was sitting in a folding chair when one of the legs slipped off a rock. It was one of those "slow motion" falls,,,,,I watched, then laughed. Neither of which were considered appropriate responses.

Oh, brother have I ever paid the price for that one and there was only wounded pride involved there.

Good work, she'll remember it forever.....

My wife certainly has and she wasn't even hurt before or during.

She got the stitches out today and more xrays on the repair. She is progressing good. I counted 8 pins or screws and a long plate. both sides of her left ankle was cut open the outside scar is near 5" long. It made my eyes water up looking at it.

This is a photo I did of the Xray, all this work is just one week old. If I did not catch her it would have put her back in the Hospital.
