Morgan county, Ohio hit hard, last Friday evening. Lost a 36" Popular, 24" Ash and a few small trees. Everything else still intact, except for the power lines on my rural road. They say it could be several more days before they get to us.

Several years ago we were without for 5 days. Lost everything in the fridge and freezer, including an entire side of beef (we did eat good off the gas grill). Later that same year I bought a 13 KW, PTO powered generator. That thing is worth its weight in gold right now!

Now, if the diesel fuel supply will just hold out. We power down over night but, able to run the central air during the day. The tractor consumes 1 gallon an hour while turning the generator. Come on, AEP!

No power here in Washington, D.C. either. They say we might not have power until Saturday!

That is how my Father-in-law got into the generator business for a while. After a major storm took out their power for a couple of weeks he picked up a bunch of PTO generators which he then sold to area farmers. He kept one for himself and has used it several times since that storm. Rural farms are always the last to get power back.

PTO generators. Who knew?

Glad you are getting buy and are OK.

Mine only flickered two or three times but the house next to me and there entire part of the area were out 12 hours. I guess I'm on a sturdy grid.

Is that advise for a power failure or a bad date? :surprise:

We lost power Friday night and were out for about 36 hours. I have a bunch of in-laws that were told the might get juice by the 8th. We had a lot of family over for a big dinner and so they could sit in the AC, get hot showers, and do some laundry. My Father in Law has a neighbor that is a power lineman for AEP. They are working 16 hour shifts with no end in sight.

Things are looking up! Two men from an Albama power company came by in a pickup, to check out the power lines laying across my road. Sitting here waiting for one of their line crews to show up . . . I hope . . . I hope!
