A couple weeks ago, I had several conversations with Brownells Customer Service folks. They are awesome.

UPS just delivered my new barrel and bolt from JP.

I looked at all the other great barrel makers out there, finally re-decided on JP because I could get the complete package of rifle, block, brake, tube and bolt for a decent price.

Brownells has once again established itself as a superior company.

My new build starts soon. I still need cam pin, firing pin, and some other small parts. Midway has a DPMS TiN cam pin I am thinking about getting.

I am looking at a fiberglass hand guard also.

I love doing buisness with Brownells and I spend thousands there every year. They have a LEO discount and have most everything you could want.

I agree. Brownells is hard to beat. They guarantee everything they sell even if the mfg doesn't.

I love Brownell's but they really need to redesign their website. It is so difficult to navigate. I understand that they have a ton of inventory but so does Midway and they manage.

Sweet set up thinking of going the same route to upgrade a barrel, JP bolt carrier, alexander arms hand guard or VTAC along with the fixed stock.

I'd be careful about getting the gun too light on the front end. The JP barrel is a relatively light profile. A fiberglas or carbon fiber handguard would make the front end very light.

IMHO, a lightweight front end just doesn't settle. I bring the gun up and watch the dot dance around for a second. On the second gun that I built, I used a 15" aluminum handguard and a slightly heavier profile barrel. I bring it up and it just settles instantly.

Thanks for the guidance on the hand guard. I have a JP hand guard on my other AR. Worse comes to worse I will switch them out.

I will need to check Denise's latest email to see if I need a sling. That is going to dictate the set up.

I agree. I think a rifle should balance just at the mag well area. Front light is bad so is muzzle heavy.

I have to call Mark and talk to him about the plugs in the hand guard. I am not sure what they are for...worse comes to worse I will order a JP hand guard from Brownells for the match.
