I am supposed to go pick up a new X5 Competition model tomorrow. Bladetech makes holsters for it I see, anyone else I should check out for holsters? I would like something with some sort of retention if possible.

Do these mags fit an X5? : http://www.cdnninves...69mm20blan.html

How about a standard 226 magazine with a basepad on it? Will that fit?

Yes the 20rnd SCT mags in your link will fit but you will need to do a little trimming of the basepad in order to clear the magwell. Can't help you much as far as holsters. I use a Blade Tech and a DAA Racemaster.

How about grips? Are they the same as a regular p226? I want to pick up another set of grips to stipple unless someone can recommend a better solution.

Yes no and maybe. How's that for an answer?

The X5's have rails for mounting the magwell. As seen here.

The grip panel has to clear that rail. Older grips will not clear that rail unless they are modified. Some of the newer grips however will clear the rail.

Another option is Hogue grips.

Ah... So it might take a bit of dremel time on the grips? I can handle that! I am watching a few sets of grips on auction sites. I am going to try and snatch up a couple different sets on the off chance I mess one up!

Been doing some searching. I am assuming the standard Dawson FO SIG front sights fit? I am good with the standard black rear sight but would like to put a FO front on the gun.

My only criticism is that the safety is very difficult to manipulate at times, I am assuming this will loosen up with use. The trigger has a bit of take up but breaks nicely.

Plan on shooting it this way the remainder of the season, practice only until my holster shows up (5-7 weeks from Bladetech).

I have the Hogue SIG Sauer P226 Checkered G10 - Black.

Fits perfect, feels good and they are slimmer.

After buying an X5 for the first time.. I have a serious love affair going on with this pistol. On my second one. First was an All Around.. fantastic. Now I have an L1.. hooked! The safety is a little bit stiff.. but I have had NO problems taking it off when the buzzer goes off in my ear. For grips I am using Hogue G10 Extremes for the SAO X5 and the fit is flawless. In addition I added Staudacher (from this forum) full magwell. Which BTW.. he probably still has a few left and they are gorgeous and fit excellent.

Extremely accurate.. but that weight makes the difference especially shot to shot. My X5 truly took me up a notch in gun handling and placing my shot. So enjoy your X5 and I hope you have the same feeling for yours after you put some rounds down range

It seems like the safety binds at times, it requires even pressure from both sides to get it off when it does this. Like I said I assume this will loosen up with a bit of use.

I posted over in the 9mm reloading forum and have gotten no help: anyone have load recommendations for the X5? I have 115 and 124gr projectiles and a couple of different powders available.

If your barrel will accept a cartridge length of 1.142.. don't know why it would not as mine came from Sig that way.. did not have to throat. Here is what I use for competition in 9mm. I do not have any higher pressure loads for defensive shooting.

For a USPSA match I am using Winchester nickel brass, Winchester Primers, Montana Gold JHP 124g, Vihtaviouri N320 at 4.3gr and the prescribed 1.142 avg COAL. Max 1.144.. shortest 1.138. This gives me a Power Factor 130 to about 133. Very accurate load. Also since the Vihtaviouri is cotton based there is hardly any clean up in the pistol after using.. plus the powder is real easy on barrels.. just an FYI. Of course we all have our pet products.

Nills Grips are definately the way to go. They may not be in stock in the US. I had to wait about 3-4 weeks to get mine which is not bad considering they had to come from Germany. I use Megar and Sig magazines with no problem. There seems to be alot of interest in the high end Sigs lately. They are excellent guns and I have had no problems with either one of mine.

The rear notch is wide and deep on the X-5 adjustable sight used on the X-5 All Round. I use a 0.140" wide by 0.170" tall Dawson Precision SIG sight on mine. The 0.125" that I use on a standard P226 with fixed rear sight was a little narrow for the X-5 wide notch in the rear, at least for me.

Grips--I have modified both the plastic mag well TACOPS grips from a P226 for an X-5 (All Round, NOT a Competition) as well as modified the redwood P226 Stainless Elite grips to work on the X-5 All Round. I really like the redwood SSE grips on it, but no magwell. Lots of options for the All Round with a decocker, not sure what you will have to get for the thumb safety SAO guns.

I have Hogue Extreme G-10's on my X5 L1. These are specifically for the SAO X5's.

The safety on my L1 was stiff I took it apart and pinched the spring down a little and that seemed to solve the problem. Also if i remember correctly the spring rides on another piece that interacts with the safety I filed or sanded these a little smoother. Watch the triggers on the L1 my adjustable one has come loose several times, had to disassemble the entire gun during a 3gun match to put the trigger back on the beavertail it rides on.
