Midway makes a great bag for the money.

Watch for a sale on one of the Midway bags.

That's what I would do personally. I think they go for around $45.00. Well worth the extra cash...hell that's cheap anyways.

Perhaps find a nice padded camera bag on craigslist.
I just looked and there were several nice ones for 25-35 bucks.

I bought a two tool bag set by Craftsman at a Sears yesterday.

The Sears number is 937537.

One bag is 13 inches, the other 18.

I paid $16 out the door for it, but it looks like online together they are $10.

EDIT: for ammo, I like the $6 ammo cans from the army surplus store. I can actually write on them with chalk what's inside them, .22LR, 9mm, .40 etc. And they do stack neatly and almost interlock with each other when sitting on a shelf or the floor.

The best combination pack and camp chair is made by Chair-Pak. I've got and older model and it useful and built fairly well:

The LA Police gear "bug out bag" has carried everything I've needed at many major 3 gun matches.

I love my small bug out bag. I looked into getting the larger version but decided the small held as much as I cared to tote. I use it as my range bag, USPSA match bag with a folding stool, and for 3-Gun sitting on top of a milk crate that is on a folding wheeled luggage cart. It works great, is tough, good looking, and cheap enough to buy more than one for different set-ups. They are so cheap I bought another one but just use my first one and swap the contents out. http://www.lapoliceg...tabaoutbag.html

Hey Chevy, that's great if you live in a state that allows it. Here in LaLa land we must lock our guns in the range bag, in our trunk. The LaLa Police of course can go hot.

Much obliged,

Max

Here's mine,

Husky tool bag, with lotssss of pocket for almost everything. And as it's a roller, it's easier to carry with lot of ammo.
After a shooting spree, they always want to take the guns away from the people who didn't do it. I sure as hell wouldn't want to live in a society where the only people allowed guns are the police and the military.

Go for the midway USA bag. $45 and there are always coupons. I have two and had one rip after a few years (my fault) and they replaced the bag no questions asked. They will guarantee anything with there name on it no questions.

I've started to use back packs.....never mind that I have back pack that you can put a rifle (or shotgun). I also have a rifle case that doubles as a backpack.

I did just get a conventional back pack however, that has all sorts of pockets and it was like $25 or so.....pretty usefull, I could carry all my 3 gun gear and pistol, then just carry a double rifle cloth case. It's been kinda handy to carry everything. I bet you could find an ALICE pack w/frame on the cheap too.

Tim

+1 on the backpack, makes stage-to-stage easier when the weight is on both shoulders.

I would add that a sturdy laptop backpack works GREAT! Laptop pouch holds 2 pistols in a soft side case easily, room for ammo and muffs in the other big pockets, and the smaller zipper pockets hold mags, tools, etc.

Targus is what I use, and it allows me to wear it on my motorcycle to I can drive to matches with better gas mileage.

Milk crate. I take two match day. One goes on the cart, one stays in the truck with extra ammo and gear. Found some crates at menards that are not quite as tall as normal ones and it sits on the rugged gear cart perfectly. Don't have to dig thru pockets and zipper compartments.

Last year got a midway compact competition bag for non-match plinking type trips to the range and was really surprised at how nice it is. It is a good size, lots of pockets, some mag holders, shoulder strap, etc. It goes on sale a lot and is now on sale for about $30.

The buckets/lid you get with kitty litter work good, too. Waterproof and it will hold whatever you can jam into it!

I have a lunch bag (like a cooler) its soft from wal-mart for like $10 bucks. And you can also take it to work an it keeps your lunch cold for hours when you put the blue cold things in it!
its a crappy war, but its the only war we got!

I use a laptop bag I bought at Goodwill for $4.00. They always have a ton of them and it will hold three guns, ammo, muffs, eyes, mags, pens, calculator, white out..... Seriously, it's made out of heavy nylon, has a large padded rectangular center area, even has a file area that I store targets in without buggering them up. Nice shoulder strap, black color, frikkin awesome. Best part is that if it gets worn out, I go get another for $4.00. At this price I can have one for each gun and accessories if need be. I you want I can send you a pic of my setup.

That is how it sits in my safe and my trunk. Once I get to the range, the gun, holster, mags and earplugs come out and are put on, leaving plenty of room for other stuff to take to the stage. I actually have magnets in one of those Nalgene coozies so my drink sticks to the outside of the can.

The reason most are cautious on the amount spent on a bag is because we don't have any money left over from buying all the go fast gear and guns.

I use a small tool bag for pistol and accessories.
