Think I read you already have a Mark 3. I would put the Volquartsen trigger kit along with the Mark 2 bushing that removes the magazine safety. Do a little to the gun you already have and have a blast SC is a lot of fun with these little 22's as you can tell from the posts we all have favorites to play with.

Purchasing a red dot? purchase on of the better ones that will hold up. Not fun when a cheapy scope breaks on the second stage.

Good idea. I have an Ultra Dot on it so I really just need the parts to upgrade it. Does anybody know where you can buy higher capacity mags for the Ruber Mark lll 22/45?

I ran about 200 rounds through my s&w 617 with a cmore yesterday. This was the first time I have shot this gun since I got it back from Clark's for a trigger job and chamber polishing. It will shoot boring 2" groups at 50 with the cheap stuff. Bagged that is.

It's hard to beat a 617 for reliability, and once you learn to shoot a double action trigger they can be competitive with the autos.

I have the Ruger Mark III 22/45 with the Tactical Solutions upper and Volquartsen trigger. Also purchased a bushing from Sam up in Canada to bypass the magazine disconnect, best $11.00 I could have sent. There's lots of info on rimfirecentral.com I highly suggest it. Good luck

I am looking to disable the mag safety on my 22/45 LIte.

Care to share sam's contact information?

Thanks

For reasons unknown to me I couldn't edit my post...

I found SAMs contact information in the 22/45 forum on Rimfire Central. I will be adding the volquarsten a cursing kit at the same time as the mag safety removal.

S&W model 41. Absolute best out there.

The M41 is a sweet pistol no question, but on average I don't think they feed as reliably as the Rugers. The Rugers are less finicky about ammo and magazines plus they are also a lot cheaper...

I am really enjoying the LITE pistol. I need another 3 mags a c-more slide ride and a compensator still but building the parts up slowly now that the bushing and trigger kits are ordered.

The gun runs 100% on CCI standard ammo

I knew after I shot a rimfire match with that 22/45 hunter I was Hooked and would have one as soon as I could find one at the right price. I found mine almost 100$ below retail in a local gun shop, what a deal.

I am very pleased with the pistol. I will have to snap some pics once the comp is built and finished.

I am looking for the best 22 caliber gun for shooting steel challenge and fun shoot events that allow 22 caliber guns. I have looked at the Volquartsen guns and also have a Ruger Mk III that I could have work done on. I would prefer a local San Antonio gun smith to work on the Ruger. I want to have a red dot sight for sure on it. Any help and recommendations is appreciated.

The Captain

Well I bought a Volquartsen V 10 X and ran it one stage last Saturday. It ran flawlessly but the c-more I added was off a little. I am sighting it in tomorrow so I can shoot a steel match this weekend. I will let you know what happens.

I have a Ciener conversion and like the 15 round mags. I've not been able to find them recently. I am not aware of any excess capacity mags for the 22-45.

At the club where I shoot Steel Challenge many of the top rimfire shooters are using a Marvel Unit 1 conversion. Very nice. Otherwise among the rimfire shooters it is mostly Rugers and Buckmarks. I have a 22-45 with a Burris Fastfire II sight. I think I've had one malfunction.

I'm shooting a Ruger MkIII hunter. Its a great gun! I put in a VQ trigger and sear along with a Clark bushing to get rid of the mag safety. The trigger is a very smooth 2lbs. The mags fly out of the gun. Its very reliable with Federal bulk. I put a trs-25 red dot on it. Its a blast to shoot.

Here is my new 22 steel challenge gun. At the first match everyone was kidding me about having a Star Wars Laser. I finished 5th out of 28 overall. I think I can do better the more I shoot it.

I've had great success with my 6 7/8" Ruger mark 2.

It's been absolutely flawless and is accurate as can be

If I ever move to rimfire open I'd look into the new 22/45 lite Ruger

+1, the 617 is addictive, there so much fun to shoot.
The drive to want to win is only an asset when it pushes you to practice better/more and develop your mental game. When you let it make decisions for you in a match it is never your friend. It will sing the siren song of shooting beyond your skill sets with predictable unpleasant results. The skills you bring that day are the only skills you have. No amount of desire will change that. Shoot your own game. Let the results sort themselves out after the match. My bet is that not only will you do better but you will enjoy the sport more. Rick Korzep.

Took it to a steel challenge and won first place overall. My first win in any shooting competition. I love this gun!

I compete in a local .22 rimfire action match as well as shooting steel challenge type matches with my model .41. As long as I keep the chamber clean, the gun runs 100%. I do plan on buying a new model 617 for both types of matches as well. There is just something special about shooting a revolver.

I would rather have a gun that runs 100%, than a tack driver that runs 99%.

Steel challenge Class O-Rim I shoot a Ruger competition long flat side barrel & target grips, all Stainless Steel MK-lll. With a C-More red dot, click switch.

Would like to have a S & W Model 41 long barrel, target grips and trigger work is probally the best. JMO A friend has one, it's super nice. Hard to find. The newer ones are drilled & tapped for a weaver rail, the older models are not.

Shooting SC Five mags make it more better/handy/user friendly.

Perry

I shot a SC match today at our local club, 6 people on our squad shooting .22's. I don't think there was a single malfunction. Personally I'm shooting a Buckmark with a c-more and it is absolutely reliable using Federal bulk ammo from WalMart.
