(BTW, between us, you and I own 4% of the total production of that model!)

(if that is accurate)
Reading more...it seems the cylinders are spaced further out from center, and the barrel sits higher? Does that mean special moon clips?

All of the 8 shots are like that so the reg 8 shot moons should be fine. The difference is between the 8 and 6 shot guns.

I'd pony up for the Apex hammer. Ordinarily, I'd just cut the hammer, but this is only 1 of 200 made, and Carmoney likely molested a bunch of them already, and an Apex hammer is a good replacement, YMMV, of course.

I went this route as I just picked up one of the first run 38 super 627's, a little spendy though.

Naw, I've only molested the one, and it was already nicely used when I acquired it. My others are stock, cherry specimens still in their PC cases. But I do reserve the right to chop them up someday!
All of mine are 6.5" guns. The one I shoot is one of my absolute favorite revos. That light-profiled long barrel handles just about perfectly.

I know John B likes his Ti Cylinder in his slabside 627 6.5". He told me the other day that (in his opinion) it is the perfect ICORE gun. So my question? If you had a Ti cylinder gathering dust would you put it a 27-7?

If it is going to be a shooter, not a collector, put it in the condition you want to shoot it and shoot the snot out of it.

Be assured my wife will be shooting the S#!^ out of this gun. (I have a 627-4 that I am loving) This is no collector. I still may want to sell it one day if Smith ever decides to sell a 6.5" slab side Ti cylinder 627. As long as America keeps buying plastic S&W autos, why would they ever develop a new revolver.

Nah. The only real benefit of the Ti cylinder is the fact that it won't peen like the stainless cylinders. Guess what?--the 27-7 cylinder won't peen either! Give it a good action job, chamfer the chamber mouths, install the sights and cylinder release you like, and you're all set.
