Purchased a 10 acre lot in the boonies and want to set up a personal shooting bay. Anyone have any experience in what the dimensions should be?

The use will be for setting up mock stages, practicing drills, etc. for myself and probably no more than 5 or 6 shooting friends.

I plan to have the berms at 6' high and the space I have, without rearranging any existing features is 90 feet. If needed I can rearrange and if so I have 322' to play with.

My plans is to utilize the 90 feet; wold this be enough for berms on both sides and ample room in the bay?

Any experience in this type of endeavor?

Ps: let's not delve into the regulatory issues of building or using a bay, assume that this is the non issue that it is.

Build it as big as you can...you don't have to use the entire bay...but it's there if you need it.

For a pistol bay, 20 yards wide by 35 deep is more than adequate for almost any stage except standards. Make the berms taller, 6 feet is way too short 8 foot minimum and 10 on the sides with 15 on the back is better. Even out in the boonies you don't want rounds getting out.

Experience is something you normally get right after you need it.......
