I just use all factory parts. Everyone has their own favorite way to do an action.

Mine are very smooth and around 6 pounds. My PPC gun is about 5 pounds. 100% with Federal primers.

Now do you bend the mainspring or shorten the strain screw to get 6lbs?

I do a combination of both along with several other things I've figured out over 35+ years.

If you don't want to modify your springs contact Vic Pickett from the ICORE website and get a Black Majik Spring kit from him. I've tried them all (Just because I can) and his gives me the best results (others may say different and may be right).

I could skip using his kits and do like Toolguy, but I like the idea of having the factory stuff should someone offer me way more than I need for my blaster. (has happened, and was quite glad to take him up on his "deal") ;)

I will be looking into extending an invatation to forgien shooters for the 2012 Memphis Charity Challenge if you and some other of your Northern Brethren would like to take a trip in the fall. :)

I highly recommend the Apex Tactical hammer. I had my hammer bobbed and some work done by a well known gunsmith, but I didn't care for the feel and some primers (yes, they were Federal and yes they were seated deeply). I bought the Apex hammer and extended firing pin. The Apex hammer is very, very nice and very smooth. You will need to replace the sear with the one from the S&W performance shop, but those are inexpensive and a competent gunsmith can do it pretty easily (or you can do it yourself if you are up to it). The Apex extended firing pin comes with a reduced weight spring. I put both in and haven't had a lick of problems. I also replaced the main spring with the Wilson spring and the rebound spring that I got from a buddy. I am very pleased with it now.

I highly recommend the Apex Tactical hammer.

AFAIK, Apex hammers are for later guns with a frame-mounted firing pin, whereas a 625-3 has a hammer-mounted pin.

Yep, I worked my -3 down to 7lbs but it doesn't want to go much further. The hammer got down to the low 300 grains, maybe 330?

Matt,

I don't know my hammers weight on my -3 but it reliably shoots Federals at 6.....but you'd never know the difference as fast and well as you shoot....

To be perfectly honest I'm a bad gunsmith, I imagine someone with some skill could get it further down. That and I think I might have been overseating my primers for a few years, I'm doing some testing that could let me get down another pound on all guns.

Mine is about 7lbs and smooth as hell. I started with the Wolff reduced power spring kit. I tweaked the strain screw till I got the pull/reliability I wanted. I cut it to length gradually. You can cut the light rebound spring a bit to help the pull more but make sure not do over do it or it will feel like mush. Also- I polished every surface where there was "rubbing" parts in the action.... except the sear. That's what I did.

JAB,
If you decide to shoot the 2012 MCC and need anything, let us know. I bet half the guys at the MCC have a full backup with them and Revo shooters are some of the friendliest you will find.

I might have a few spare mainsprings and strain screws on the way.

If I wind up with extra, you know where I live.

I have six S&W Revolvers that have 5 lb double action triggers. They were all done by Mike Carmoney and have never failed to light off Federal primers. One is a
610 with a hammer mounted firing pin so it can be done. I do not know what combination of springs Mike used.

Ahoy Mike,
Are you still putting all your talent toward being gainfully employed or are you doing trigger work again? I just picked up a box stock (w/box), low round count, 5" 625-8 that could use some of your TLC.
