That thing is so ugly...it just might work!
Seriously...once I got past the first look...it has decent features. Bull'ish barrel, lightened slide, good sight radius, and that mag release looks great. Looks like good sights, out of the box, a grip angle that many would like, and that safety might be in the right place to be of use.
If that model isn't specifically on the Production gun list, then it is not legal.

Legal or not, I like it. Especially the emphasized castellation of slide ...that is a great word 
Just asked one of the guys at STI if they are thinking of importing any. Or at least a upper half...I'd buy one.

Glad they moved the adj rear sight all the way to the rear of the slide.

Still wish the rear sight wasn't an Elliason, but at least this one is positioned right to the rear of the slide. It still needs a better contoured safety.

I thought it was brand new..it's on the IPSC production list....yes, it is ugly. The stupid "X-Calibur" on the side looks terrible too. I'd take a plain slide version, please.

I think the mk7 versions with t he interchangeable backstraps actually look better than the original, but damn, they need to hire an Italian or SOMETHING to work on the looks of those things.

With the holes in the slide it looks a little like the old Gyrojet pistols...but uglier.
A clean slide version might be interesting.
