I have no quantifiable reason to go with one or the other. I only have the tungsten because I'm OCD about ordering parts from multiple companies so I ordered it when I ordered the trigger kit from Glockworx and that's all they had.

are the majority of you then going with the captured or uncaptured? I have thought about this upgrade in the past but couldn't decide which and what the advantage of uncaptured is.

Reading this had me concerned a tad so I weighed some parts.

Stock recoil spring/guide rod 158gr
Wolff Steel GR and 14lb spring 444gr
+286gr

Grip Plug 40g
+40gr

Stock mag pad 56gr
Jentra mag pad 125gr
+69gr

Estimate for pieces of grip tape:
+50gr ???

Estimate for Dawson F&R (Adj) sight over stock:
+250gr

2 ounces is 875gr so I think I should be good to go... I should clean the gun to get rid of some soot weight!

i use the captured rod because for me its easier to put back in. i have a captured guide rod with a 13lb spring and one with a 11 lb spring in the gun right now. i have tried the wolff uncaptured setup and didnt like it to much. thats my reason

As far as I can tell with my limited experience, the only benefit that uncaptured gives you is that it's much easier to change out the springs.

Why not just weigh the gun? I wouldn't go so far as to assume anything.

I don't have an accurate scale for that. I used my powder scale to measure the small parts I posted about.

My gun works great with only a reduced power striker spring and Dawson sights. I've used the same set-up on a G17 to win a few GSSF matches
