I'll start this off with my vote for the Tube Type 40 to 50 mm. I like the large field of view and also I find it easier for me to pick up the dot with the tube of dots. But then again I am not the expert...

Due to some equipment issues, I used a PDP5 (40mm tube), a JPoint, and a Burris Fastfire 2.

I switched to the "doctor type" for the weight advantage and the desire to get outside the scope during transitions.

I found that the supposed weight advantage was no advantage to me and it was slightly easier to obtain and retain the dot with the tube type scope.

When I went back to the "doctor type", they weren't bad, but, I think I prefer the tube (maybe because that was what I had started with back in the day).

I have never tried a C-more.

I think you adapt to what you have. It just doesn't make a lot of difference at my level.

I do know at my advanced age using the dot is a lot easier.

Rachael and I use C-Mores. Reasons, they are light, have very bright dots, and I use them on other guns so I have spares.

Here's what others were shooting, but I don't thier reasons.
Rich W - Eotech
Neil H - Adco
Jerry M - Eotech
Julie G and David O - Aimpoint Microdots

I used a Burris Fastfire on a custom low mount last year and just couldn't reliably find the dot on it every time. I switched back to my C-More and haven't had a problem since.

And I believe Dave O. was using a Leupold version of the Fastfire/JPoint style sight at the IRC this year and sounded like he was really happy with it.

Ya know, at the Bianchi Cup, they do an equipment survey. Type of gun, holster, optics, loading equipment, bullets, primers, brass, etc and they publish the results with the match results. I wish this was done at the IRC. It could provide some useful information for shooters.

30mm tube with variable dot size on the snubby and 35mm tube with tombstone reticle on the Open gun.

I have tried eotech, 40mm tubes, 30mm tubes and C mores. The reason I stick with the C more is because the are ( almost unbreakable ) the have interchangeable dot sizes (diodes) are very cheap by comparison to other dots, and when installed with a Super Lo Mount, get the dot closer to the centreline of the bore than most. Having said all of that, at the Bianchi Cup, I used Gilmores ( no longer, as they keep breaking, and will be switch to an Aimpoint for zero paralax at 50). I also have used Pride Fowler mutli reticle dots. The are nice too.

The eotech is cool, and I may even try that again, but I think I will be sticking with C more for now.
All matches start at the reloading bench........

I use Eotech as it is the brightest dot I have ever used and I can also get it with the 1 minute dot which makes it easy to sight in and is accurate for the 50 yd shots. I have tried C-More and Oko dot and they seem to dance more when shooting and I notice that more people with the C-More always seem to lose the dot every once in a while. Another cool thing about my Eotech is that is uses the same batteries as my Pro Ears so I always have spare batteries if they go dead in my scope. The only compliant I have is the weight of the Eotech and that is just me. Seems like Jerry handles the weight ok maybe I need to practice more or change the batteries in my brain. :D
